Mother's Brutal Blow....Must be a reason!

Rain today.....
- Early last week, the first week in April and to some extent the last two weeks in March had record breaking heat...several days in a row in the upper 70s to low 80s...and the flora and fauna reacted accordingly....premature growth and beautiful blooms....as well as insects galore, snakes aplenty, and summer plummage for many birds....
-This was followed on April 5-6-7-8 by record breaking cold....down below 20 F four nights in a row.....and most all the new growth died, insects became non-existent and the birds had to wonder what was up in their world.
- The mountains here went from the various shades of spring time green....to various shades of grey and even black.
- Mother Nature now must go to plan B for the spring of 07...as most trees have small dead leaves...and the budding/growth process must begin anew.
- Why is this mentioned here? I, along with many others, have never seen the natural scape this color at this time of year...late frosts yes, but not a deep freeze that left so much ecological disarray. The views from atop the mountain are more like mid-January than mid-April. Are times changin'? The old timers of the mountains have a lot to say.
