10-20-07 observations

- Finally...seasonal weather.....upper 40s this AM...brilliant skies....soft breezes
- Storms came through around 3 AM Thursday night...high winds, brief heavy rain, and the dynamics left a tranquil, clear sky. This is more like it!
- A bit of rain two days ago....less than a half inch but it sure did help the attitude, not to mention the wildlife.....
- Still 17+ inches below normal for the year and all creeks are dry....many cities on water restriction....but there is rain in the forecast again for early next week. More record warmth forecast for tomorrow...then seasonal to below normal temps for a few days.
- Coyotes have toned down their nightly serenades....I have heard them only once this week.
- Seeing a lot of deer, but as usual this time of year, the bucks are becoming more wary. I did see a little buck late PM yesterday....with a group of does. A healthy but somewhat pitiful deer, his antlers are but about 6-8" long and very close together, about 4-6 inches apart as they rise above his head. One of the spikes f0rks on top, but his cigarette sized antlers are not what is seen if plenty of nutrition is available.
